Variable radii are required for e.g. variable circular or elliptical columns in addition to the other references (e.g. Cartesian reference). Polygonal circles, ellipses or arcs are defined with tangent points: see solid sections with circle or ellipse using tangent intersections In addition, it can be necessary to define a variable radius or radii for changing circles, arcs or ellipses. The parametric input can be assigned only when editing the tangent points of an existing cross section.
Input#
At first the references for the tangent points (e.g. cartesian references) with their variables have to be defined. In a second step these tangent points can get the variable radii additionally. After calling the command Variable radii for Circles, Arcs, Ellipses with Tangent Points a tangent point can be picked.
Note
A polygonal circle or ellipse always have a starting polygonal point in addition to the tangent points. This starting point have to be get also a reference.
Symbolism#
Clicking on the tangent point the Lock symbol appears. The point is maked additionally with a small pink circle to distinguish it from the yellow reference points and for showing the Lock again symbol.
Editing#
Clicking on the Lock symbol the dialog appears for the definition of the radii.
The assignment of the radii depends on the direction of rotation of the polygon points. The first radius is located in front of the polygon point, the second behind it.
Delete#
A reference can be selected by left-clicking on the reference symbol and then it can be deleted by using the delete key or with the AutoCAD delete command.
