Curves between Reference Lines#

Introduction#

Welcome to the SOFiPLUS Modelling Tutorial.

This tutorial focuses on the Curves between Reference Lines feature in SOFiPLUS Parametrics which enables a quick and efficient creation of linear SOFiPLUS elements between predefined reference lines.

Project Description#

The tutorial example is a 330-meter-long reinforced concrete arch bridge, featuring a superstructure composed of two prestressed girders.

The bridge includes a 180-meter-span reinforced concrete arch with a rise of 55 meters. The arch has a box cross-section, designed as a double-cell structure with a constant depth. The superstructure spans continuously across 11 spans of 30 meters each, consisting of two prestressed girders.

The bridge piers, with an elliptical cross-section, range in height from 6 to 64 meters.

Note

This is not a practice relevant example. It is intended to demonstrate the described feature.

Modelling#

To effectively showcase this parametric feature, the initial modeling stage is used to quickly generate a row of columns connecting the arch to the superstructure. Moreover, the complete and complex substructure of this model can be parametrically configured in the same way, providing enhanced flexibility and precision.
