Pile bedding definition and analysis of pile supports#

Introduction#

The following tutorial describes the definition of a pile bedding system and its integration into our workflow.

To understand this tutorial, a basic knowledge of the SSD is required. We recommend to see our online introduction videos.

Objectives and workflow steps#

This tutorial aims to clarify the definition of bore profiles in SOFiPLUS, considering both linear and non-linear parameters, and includes an investigation of the results. To achieve this, two models are created: one focusing on a monopile system and the other on a multiple pile system of a piled raft foundation with three piles. The response of these two systems under different loading conditions will be investigated.

Monopile system#

The following video focuses on the introduction of bore profiles and their application to a monopile system under vertical axial loading. More specifically, the following topics will be covered in this section:

  • Modeling and loading of the monopile system

  • Definition of bore profiles in SOFiPLUS through the “Bore Profile” dialogue

  • Explanation of non-linear parameters

  • Investigation of the results in graphical format for axial loading
