Split Structural Area

Splits plane structural areas, area loads and load distribution areas by a line, polyline, circle or other curves.

First, select the element to be divided. Then select the elements that will be used to divide.

In the case of structural areas, the properties of the original areas are transferred to the created areas, except for the element number.

Limitation#

Circles cannot be split if the dividing edge passes through the quadrants.

If the dividing edge lies on a boundary edge, invalid elements can be created.

Structural areas bound on axes will lose their reference to the axes and placements. Edge properties are deleted.

Load distribution areas can only be divided into elements with four corner points. Curved edges are replaced by chords.

Splitting of non-linear area loads is an undefined behavior. The value of newly created edge points may vary after the split command.

Note

If problems arise when using many elements in one step or with complex geometries, try splitting the system into multiple steps.
