Summary of Masses#
The SSD task ‘’Summary of Masses’’ generates a
.PLB output file
with system overview tables including volume and weight information.
In the task, you can select your desired element types for the summary from the following:
Beam-, Truss-, Cable-elements,
Plane elements,
Three-dimensional solid elements,
Design elements.
For Beam-, Truss-, Cable-elements, the output tables give information on the total length of all elements, the maximum length, the total volume and the total weight.
For plane elements, like area elements, the output tables give information on the total area of all elements, the total volume and the total weight.
For three-dimensional solid elements the output tables give information on the total volume and the total weight.
For design elements the output tables give information on the total length, total volume and total mass for structural members (design element types) and for secondary design element groups.
Hint
Design elements usually are used to integrate results from different structural elements for the design. Therefore, the selection/deselection of design elements does not change the total sum of masses/volume. The Assessment of the design elements results can be used for an evaluation of the different design element member types (e.g. Columns, Shear Walls, Building Core,…).
The evaluation can be done for different system properties. One of the options has to be selected for a proper assessment. Therefore, if no option is selected, an evaluation by primary groups will be carried out. The assessment can contain an evaluation of:
Groups
Cross sections
Material
Secondary groups
Additional Options for concrete structures#
With the additional options the consideration of reinforcement and tendons can be controlled.
If no option is selected, the cross sections/areas are calculated as if they would only consist out of concrete. For the mass calculation, the reinforcement is applied as a lump sum by using a higher concrete density.
For a detailed calculation of the reinforcement, Sum of reinforcement has to be selected. The calculation of the volume/mass then considers:
the predefined reinforcement of the cross section/the area, when no design case is available
or the maximal reinforcement from the design cases.
The reinforcement is printed in new columns and all reinforcemnt materials are shown in the material result table. With Detailed sum of area reinforcement, the display of the reinforcement columns in the summary of quadrilateral elements can be switched on/off.
If Sum of tendons is selected, the calculation of the volume/mass considers the tendons.
In both cases, the concrete volume/mass is reduced consistently.
