Service-Pack 2025-1#
SOFiSTiK Structural Desktop#
Design Codes#

Bugfix
IFC
Import Structural Lines when the same cross-section is assigned to multiple structural curves. (227684)
Export centric Beam placed on a Structural Line with its centroid, when the cross-section coordinate origin is different from the centroid. (229541)
When IFC with unrecognized Building Code is imported, use default material and cross-sections allowing for modification during or after import.
Cross Sections and Materials#
General
The omission of cross section elements via construction stages with an end is not recommended because this workflow is continuously not supported by all programmes. In this case a warning will be issued.
Transverse reinforcement material of cross-section is no longer initialised with longitudinal reinforcement material. This means that work flows that do not require transverse reinforcement material function more smoothly.
Solid partial areas are not suitable for FEM meshing if they have an unfavourable geometric ratio (the area is very thin), as they generate a large number of elements. For such kind of sections a warning is occurred and they are calculated using the boundary integral method (BEM 3).
By linear interpolation with input “INTE” (two cross sections are specified), the formula evaluation is suppressed by default.
When designing the reinforcement As of all reinforcement elements belonging to the same rank is increased evenly up to the value of Asmax. If reinforcement elements of the same rank have a different ratio Asmax/As, a warning is occurred.
Feature
Default work laws and default thermal properties are no longer exported.
The corners of thin walled elements are also used to determine the maximum elastic design moments. This can lead to smaller design moments. (229003)
Cross Section Editor: Definition of a variable for the thickness at ‘Non-effective Parts - Line’ is now possible. (224081)
SSD materials: dialogs for stress-strain curves and thermal values with adaption to the new export from CDB to AQUA.
Bugfix
Single Cartesian reference “>”, “^” corrected. Input “0000” is converted into Cartesian reference “>”, “^”.
Wording for bedding material improved. (227520)
Clearer error message for incorrect reference material. (228018)
The interpolation of cross-sections along axes can be applied to the entire system or to a specific structural line. A specific axis or secondary axis can now also be specified. (222820)
The output of “ECHO MAT NO” with “ECHO LCA YES” printed too much material information.
When an edge beam was exploded in SOFiPLUS, a third reinforcement layer was created that was not readable in the CSE programme.
For polygonal cross-sections, the torsionally effective length L-tors was determined incorrectly if there were only torsionally passive reinforcements. A warning occurs if L-tors is unrealistic. (226644)
Weighting of L-tors was corrected. (227372)
The meshing of very thin solid cross-sections could result in a crash.
SSD standard cross sections for beam, t-beam and edge beam: consideration of the inclination of the links during determination of default value for shear reinforcement.
SSD standard cross sections for beam, t-beam and edge beam: for design codes which does not given a minimum shear reinforcement e.g. UNI DM-2018 a manual input is now allowed. (226556)
Sometimes the warning “unconnected cross-section parts” was not output. (229394)
Sometimes the import of standard sections did not worked. (229708)
Cross Section Editor: Correction of processing of formulas with variables (TVAR) for the thickness of thin-walled elements and stress points.
The type for pure cross-section values (without geometry) was sometimes not set in the database.
Sometimes circular elements were not loaded correctly. (230132)
Shear deformation areas of thin walled shear connections were dependent on material number. Weldings (with a thickness D > 0) are now taken into account regardless of the material number, but dowels (with a thickness D < 0) are not.

Design Checks for Composite Cross Sections#
General

Ultimate Limit State design checks for section classes 1 through 4
Design checks for the stress limitation in the Serviceability Limit State
Checks of the necessary reinforcement for crack control
Calculation of shear forces for the design of the shear connection
Calculation of stress ranges for the fatigue design checks
For the Ultimate Limit State the user can choose between two methods for the elastic stress check:
Method 1: The interaction between axial stress and shear is considered by checking the von Mises stresses in the structural steel. Local buckling effects of the cross-section (section class 4, shear buckling) are considered by the Reduced Stress Method (EN 1993-1-5, section 10).
Method 2: For the interaction between axial stress and shear the interaction formula acc. EN 1994-2 6.2.2.4(3) resp. EN 1993-1-5, section 7.1 is used. Local buckling of the cross-section (section class 4) is treated by using the effective cross-section (EN 1993-1-5, section 4).
The tension stiffening effect is considered in the stress calculation for the Serviceability Limit State (stress limitation, crack control) and the stress ranges for fatigue.
