Analysis Browser#

Shows and hides the Analysis Browser panel.

In the Analysis Browser, subsystems, load take down sets as well as design groups present in the project are visible and can be managed.

  1. Click SOFiSTiK Analysis Tab ‣ Manage ‣ Analysis Browser. The dockable window Analysis Browser displays.

  2. Dock the Analysis Browser to your desired location within the Revit application window, or move it to another monitor.

Analysis Browser is the successor of the SOFiSTiK: Design Browser with vastly extended capabilities.

Contents of the Browser#

Overview of the available items in the Analysis Browser#

Systems

Lists the systems of the project. It is always lead by the Main System followed by the subsystems in reversed alphabetical order.

Load Take Down

Lists and activates Load Take Down Sets.

Note

If a set is active, its Analysis Tasks override any individual settings of the associated subsystems. See Calculate the Load Take Down to learn more.

Column Designs

Lists the Column Design groups existing in the project.

Beam Designs

Lists the Beam Design groups of the project, sorted by their data source.

Slab Designs

Lists the Slab Design groups of the project, sorted by their data source.

Working with the Browser#

Display of Properties at Selection#

Clicking on an item in the Analysis Browser, its information displays and can be modified in the Structural Properties panel.

Details

Main System, any subsystem

System View Properties panel

Subsystems can be selected both in the Systems category and in any of the set from Load Take Down.

Multiple subsystems

Subsystems panel

Reduced panel with multiselection compatible properties.
Use CTRL/SHIFT + left_mouse_button_small to multiselect.

Any component of a Design Group

Panels corresponding to the selected components (e.g., column, wall) display.

Click right_mouse_button_small + Select Elements

Context Menu#

The right-click menu offers quick access to the most relevant commands in a given context.

Command

Description

Calculate…

Triggers the calculation of the selected item.

Calculate (incl. Design)…

Triggers the calculation of the selected item and all design groups belonging to it.

Create [Entity]…

Offers a range of “Create …” commands for the respective item.

Open

Opens the view of the system.

Edit…

Opens the dialog box for the item (load take down set, design group) and allows for modifications.

Change Source…

Allows to change the source system, which determines the analysis results used in the design.

Rename…

Allows to change the name of the selected item.

Delete

Removes the selected item from the project.
For systems, only the SOFiSTiK information is deleted, the view itself remains.

Select Elements

Selects elements associated with the selected item. The elements are highlighted in the current view and their information is displayed in the Structural Properties.

Select All Remaining

Selects elements that are not yet part of a design group. The elements are highlighted in the current view and their information is displayed in the Structural Properties.

Add

Specific to Column Design.
Allows to add columns to an existing design group.

Detach

Specific to Column Design.
Removes the column from the design group.

Move to…

Specific to Column Design.
Moves the column to another existing design group.

Separate…

Specific to Column Design.
Creates a new design group and moves the selected column into it.
Structural Desktop
Visualization
Graphical Output

Triggers the respective command for the selected system, see SOFiSTiK Structural Desktop (SSD), Visualization, Graphical Output.

Report

Opens the calculation or design report for the selected item, see Report Browser.
When a load take down set is selected, an aggregated report for all systems in the set is displayed.

Collapse All

Opens or closes all items of the Analysis Browser.

Expand Selected
Collapse Selected

Open or closes the selected item and all its sub-items in the Analysis Browser.
