Bridge Profile Family#

You can use Superstructure command to create bridge components along the chosen axis. Generated object is an adaptive component family, which is constructed using loft functionality with the adaptive profiles.

Bridge Profile Families are Generic Model Adaptive Families (.rfa), which consist at least one closed loop of lines. Profile Family needs an adaptive point, which will be used as insertion point on the axis.

You can find some types of bridge profile in the installation directory.


  • Simple T-Beam

  • T-Beam with single slope

  • T-Beam with double slope

  • Double T-Beam with single slope

  • Double T-Beam with double slope

  • Hollow with single slope

  • Hollow with double slope

Additionally, bridge deck line profiles were added to installation directory. You can use them to create your own bridge profile easily.


You can use already prepared Revit Families, customize them or create your own ones.


If you want to customize your own Bridge Profile Family:
  • Copy one bridge profile, rename it and save it locally

  • Open the family and change the parameters or geometry according to your wish. Move Point Elements or add new ones.

  • Use ‘Spline Through Points’ command to create a closed loop between the points.


While creating a loop, select two points and click on the ‘Spline Through Points’ command. Otherwise you can meet some difficulties while creating the loop.


While parametrizing your Profile Family, take care, that internal loops will not intersect or be moved outside an external loop.

Following rules have to be considered:
  • All of the lines have to create a closed loop

  • Only one external loop is allowed

  • All of the other loops have to be located inside an external loop. They will be interpreted as openings of the component.

  • All of the loops have to be created on one plane only (Middle: Left/Right)
